Launch of the “Carnival for the Future”
A month of exchange
05.09.2024 // 6–10 p.m.
This year, we received no funding for our carnival going forward, and for a while, we wondered what the point of holding a carnival at all was in such terrible times.
Nevertheless, we decided to continue – to use our limited resources to open a space for radical imagination.
In times of repression and silencing, we feel the need to shout: Other worlds are possible!
With our parade, we want to highlight the initiatives, collectives, and movements that are already working on what a different world could look like. A world where solidarity matters, where economic sustainability serves the common good and ecological balance – not profit. A world where culture is not traded as a commodity or abused to gain consent, but as a tool for critical thinking and a unifying element of society.
We know: Everywhere, at the grassroots level, small utopias are growing, resisting in the shadows. And we want these small utopias to continue to grow like a subcultural mycelium beneath the toxic asphalt. We believe this resistant, almost invisible mycelium is incredibly powerful. We must nurture it so it can grow and connect with other mycelium networks around the world.
Our carnival is a small mycelium that we don't want to let dry out. That's why we're calling for your support and active participation!
You are cordially invited to actively participate in our preparations: With the meeting on September 5th, we want to open a space for collective planning and organizing.
